DIGITAL TERRITORIES . REALES ATARAZANAS

CONFERENCE ROOM

Gerhard Behles (Germany)
Ableton Live President

The opening session of Territorios Digitales will feature Gerhard Behles, the chief executive of Ableton, the company's whose Live program revolutionised the electronica scene by enabling musicians to play their music live in the most conventional way possible so far. Ableton was founded in 1999 by Gerhard Behles and Robert Henke (from the electronica group Monolake) and Bernd Roggendorf. Following the work developed by Behles in the synthesis of Native Instruments' Reaktor, and his earlier work at Berlin's Technical University using a Silicon Graphics workstation, Ableton Live was launched commercially in 2001. Behles continues to be the chief executive of Ableton, whilst Henke is continuing to lead the technological side and focuses his effort on the effects and instruments included in Live. As a result of this work, Behles left Monolake, where he was replaced by Torsten Pröfock.
